If you’ve ever wished your French students were as excited about vocabulary practice as they are about Halloween candy 🍬 — this is the activity for you!
My newest resource, the L’Halloween Escape Room en Français, combines language learning with mystery, teamwork, and just the right amount of spooky fun. This online Genially escape room is completely digital, meaning there’s no prep required — just open, share, and play!
🧙♀️ What Is the French Halloween Escape Room?
The French Halloween Escape Room takes students on a virtual adventure through five haunted houses, where they must solve clues, answer comprehension questions, and collect candy — all en français! 🇫🇷
Each haunted house focuses on:
Essential French Halloween vocabulary
Colors and descriptive adjectives
Numbers and cultural questions about L’Halloween and La Toussaint (All Saints’ Day)
The activity is self-paced, easy to facilitate, and takes about 30-45 minutes from start to finish.
💻 How the French Halloween Escape Room Works in Class
This escape room is built on Genially, so it’s completely interactive and visually engaging.
You can:
Share your screen and play as a class
OR assign the student link for independent or small-group play
Students make their way through spooky scenes, choosing the correct French answers to unlock candy and advance through the levels. Each section builds language confidence while keeping the energy high — especially during that pre-Halloween excitement! 🎃
🗝️ What Teachers Love
Teachers using this resource have shared how much their students enjoy the mix of culture, vocabulary, and mystery. It’s perfect for:
A Halloween week activity in middle or high school French classes
Sub plans or fun Friday lessons
Distance learning or in-person classrooms
Plus, it includes a full Teacher Guide and Answer Key, so you can feel completely prepared — even if you only have a few minutes before class starts!
